Player Information

The Tournament: The Women’s Porter Cup is an invitational amateur event conducted at stroke play over 54 holes. There is no cut. The Tournament is open to women who were female at birth with a current handicap index not to exceed 9.4. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to invite players of national and international reputation to participate. Contestants are selected on the basis of their competitive record and accomplishments in major amateur, junior and collegiate tournaments.

Amateur Status: All players must conform with the USGA Rules of Amateur Status as set forth in The Rules of Golf.

Registration: Players must register by 5:00pm on Tuesday, June 2nd. The Registration Desk is located in the Garden Room of the Niagara Falls Country Club and will be staffed on Tuesday, June 2nd from 9:00am until 5:00pm. If you cannot register at the above time, you must contact the Player Registration Committee or you may forfeit your position in the Tournament.

Dress Code: Proper golf attire is required during all phases of the Tournament including practice. Shorts are permissible. The Niagara Falls Country Club has a policy of no denim at any time.

Footwear: It is a condition of the competition that shoes with metal or traditionally designed spikes are prohibited. Penalty for breach of the condition is disqualification.

Grooves: The player’s clubs must conform to the groove and punch mark specifications in the Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010.

Distance Measuring Devices: It is a condition of the competition that rangefinders or other distance measuring devices are permitted.

Practice: Niagara Falls Country Club will be available for practice all day Tuesday. You must register with the Pro Shop before beginning play. Range balls are included in the entry fee.

Starting Times: Wednesday’s pairings and starting times will be available by 2:00pm on Tuesday, June 2nd. Thursday and Friday’s times will be available by 5:00pm the night before.

Caddie Policy: Caddies are not mandatory. Please indicate on your entry form or at Registration if you would like the Committee to supply a caddie for you. Caddie fee is $40 a day plus gratuity.

Private Housing: All collegiate players requesting private housing will be accommodated. You must specify on your entry form if you want us to provide private housing. You will be notified shortly before the competition of your hosts’ name, address and phone number.

Accommodations: For those contestants wishing to arrange their own accommodations, please click here for a list of nearby hotels, motels, and bed & breakfasts facilities.

Travel Information: The Committee needs to know if you will have a car available during tournament week. This will help with the location of private housing, if requested. Also, the Committee will provide transportation to and from the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. You MUST provide us with your airline, flight number, day and time of arrival and departure.

Maid of the Mist: This boat trip to see Niagara Falls is a must! Buses will depart from the NFCC parking lot at 4:45pm on Wednesday, June 3rd. All players and their guests are welcome.

Player’s Dinner: The Player’s Dinner will be held on Thursday evening. Player attendance is encouraged.

Meals: The following meals are included with your entry fee: Breakfast and lunch each day Wednesday through Friday and Thursday evening’s Player’s Dinner.

Awards: Prizes will be awarded to the top 5 positions in the Women’s Porter Cup. In addition, there are low round prizes each day.

Rules of Play: The USGA Rules of Golf, as modified by local rules established by the Women’s Porter Cup, will be used. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein.

Close of Competition: The competition is deemed to be closed when the Championship trophy has been presented.

Withdrawal: If an entrant withdraws prior to May 29th, their full entry fee will be refunded. If an entrant withdraws after May 29th, there will be no refund.
